Commitment

Just because you are a good assistant or good with people does not mean you will be a good real estate agent. One of the reasons my company stays so busy is agents come to us because their assistant left. Almost without fail, the assistant worked with the agent for a long time, was trained up on how the agent does things (and thus became successful), and then set out on their own thinking they could do what the agent does and make just as much money.

It takes a certain kind of person to be a real estate agent. You wake up unemployed every single day. There is no such thing as guaranteed income. Hard, uncomfortable conversations? Pretty much every day. Constantly disappointing your family and friends, even with good boundaries. Weird hours and difficulties making plans or commitments for fear of having to abandon ship last minute. This industry requires a grit and commitment that you can’t really understand until you experience it.
