You Need a Mentor
Regardless of how long you have been in the business, you need to have a mentor or someone else you can easily reach to discuss issues. Getting a property under contract is the easy part of the business - the rest of it is where the complications arise. Unfortunately, our industry has moved away from the broker-affiliate relationship where the broker was readily available for contract questions and for bouncing around ideas. That doesn’t mean the problems stopped. Find an agent more experienced than you (or at least as experienced as you if you have been in the business 10 years or more) that you can brainstorm with. We have agents come to us pretty often with questions that should technically be answered by the managing broker - in their absence, a colleague would be a better soundboard.
