The Administrative Cost

Generally, when agents are interviewing with new brokages they focus on issues like splits, culture, and training. However, don’t forget to ask about what their administrative process looks like. Many brokerages make it pretty hard for agents to practice. What does their compliance process look like? Do they nit-pick little items on the contract and disclosures just to keep a compliance officer busy? Do they have a easy-to-use back end that allows you to upload docs and receive feedback? One of the most time consuming parts of our jobs as TCs is to handle submitting docs to brokerages and making sure they get approved. Laborious brokerage backends are fine for us, but if you aren’t using a TC you will want to make sure that handling paperwork won’t become a second job for you.
